After breaking into the media in 1989, Mik became one of the most recognisable disabled people in the media and for many years was a regular face on UK TV. Best known for presenting the Emmy award winning kids TV show Beat That and fronting the BBC2 disability magazine show From The Edge, Mik is proud of the younger disabled people who hail him as their influence for going into the media.
He now works as an access and inclusion expert, helping business and the public sector become more welcoming to disabled people, whether as customers or employees.
Mik is currently producing the CRIPtic Arts Showcase at the Barbican which will take place in November 2021. He also co-presents a talk show on Disability Horizons TV.

“I have been so lucky to have had such a varied career. From music to the media, to working in business and now venturing back into the arts, my life has been nothing like the one I was told I would have as a young disabled person. In fact, I know that I wouldn’t have had the amazing life I’ve lived if I wasn’t disabled. It’s been a roller-coaster but one I have loved riding and now as I enter a new stage of my life, going back to my first love – the arts – I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
