Digital and Tech

Let’s start off with the big one. I’m a Paralympian. No medal from my Paralympic journey to Torino in 2006 playing Para Ice Hockey and captaincy of the team, but the beginning of a set of core values and passion to empower disabled people in reaching their potential.

A lengthy career in local government gave way to running a business with other celebrated Paralympians, making positive impacts to young people’s lives in education gave way to taking a strategic lead in education as Vice Chair of the Board to one of the country’s leading Specialist Colleges, now 5 x Ofsted Outstanding. I feed into localised and national agendas, ensuring that ‘disability’ is not being lost in the fast paced change we see in today’s political agenda.

Following 4 years as a Non-Exec Director of Nimbus Disability, 2022 saw the right time to move over as Director of Partnerships where I have led on the extension of the business across sectors and its national and international expansion. I’m very proud of the work we do as a team here at Nimbus. Working with passionate and innovative disabled people making positive changes and influencing change is humbling.

One of my best days at work was seeing Nimbus receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Innovation in February this year. A real accolade to the work and impact we have!

I see myself as a creative broker, bringing the right people and ideas together that make a truly impactful and positive future for disabled people. The Shaw Trust Power 100 embodies this.
