Jane Hatton
CEO, Evenbreak
During a career spanning more than 30 years in diversity and inclusion, Jane gained an MSc in Human Resource Development, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Royal Society of Arts.
In 2004 she developed a chronic degenerative spinal condition. Following three spinal surgeries (so far) on her lower spine and neck, several rounds of pain management, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and various drug regimes, she is left with spinal cord damage, chronic pain, weakness in the left hand and an impaired ability to sit.
In 2011 Jane founded Evenbreak, a social enterprise run by and for disabled people, helping employers attract and retain more talented disabled candidates through an inclusive job board and an online best practice portal.
Jane has won many awards, including Diversity Champion at the Excellence in Diversity Awards, Best Newcomer in OnRec Awards, Best Disability Practice and Diversity and Inclusion awards in the APSCo awards for excellence in recruitment and was a Finalist in the Stelios Disabled Entrepreneur’s Award in 2008 and 2017.
Jane is widely published in the field of inclusion, including her book, A Dozen Brilliant Reasons to Employ Disabled People published in 2017 and A Dozen Great Ways to Recruit Disabled People published in 2020. She is the Patron of the Inclusive Skills Competitions and on the executive committee of Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative. She was used as a recruitment expert in BBC2’s documentary “Employable Me”.
