I provide healthcare and educational support to a variety of clients both face-to-face and behind the scenes. A team player who is committed to the welfare, safeguarding, and promotion of pupils and adults with learning disabilities. A proven ability to encourage children, teens, and adults to achieve their potential by stimulating their enthusiasm for learning, making individual decisions and choices but also their determination to succeed.

Providing support for people with complex autism and their families takes a special type of person. You need compassion, understanding, and a real love for others, and I gained most of these skills working directly with infants, children, pupils, students, and adults supporting additional learning ESL, SEN, and disabled individuals with mild and complex learning, social skills and more recently updated during Covid-19 Health and Wellbeing.

Throughout my working life and learning more every day I continue to work one-to-one, in groups with people of all ages and varying levels of ability, and I apply my varied life experiences and a non-judgmental approach to identifying and analyse the training needs of individuals. My main niche skills as always have been using devices that are on the market, providing information, and supporting individuals’ assistance with communication techniques.

I personally believe I am highly empathic with a caring and sensitive personality, as well as a genuine interest in helping. Every day I make sure I help create and implement intervention plans to help people with autism progress toward living a normal, fully functional life.

Working with third parties to monitor the individual’s progress, determine which plans are working, and which ones are not, and I can help to make changes where needed. The ability to communicate is central to learning and life, making decisions and choices with a variety of communication devices whether paper-based, low tech or high-tech. Therefore, the development of communication and language is central to the work I do!

I was only diagnosed with Aspergers and High Functioning Autism at the very late age of 34 at Bridgwater Autism Unit. Certainly, a shock but also a relief getting the label.

“Don’t Judge Initial Contact or Communication Response.”
