World’s longest lanyard

Best Campaign

We wanted to create a list of as many non visible disabilities that there are to demonstrate to businesses and the general public of the sheer number of conditions that people are living with.

We opened a page on our site that people could add their condition. To bring attention to this campaign, we created the worlds longest lanyard. For every person that added their condition we extended the lanyard by 1 metre.

At the time of cut of, we had 867 conditions added by 2917 people, and so we created a lanyard that was 3784 metres long. We were awarded the Guinness world record on the 17th March 2023 at Anfield, home of Liverpool FC where we draped the lanyard up the famous Kop end, held aloft by the Liverpool disabled supporters club.

Christine Mcguinness joined us on the pitch at Anfield to help celebrate our campaign. Christine herself as well as her 3 children are Sunflower wearers. The event was reported by hundreds of news networks in the UK and overseas.

“We are very proud to be nominated in the Disability Power 2023 and hope the exposure that this will provide enables us to deliver on our simple goal, which is to improve the daily experiences for people who’s disabilities may not be visible.”
