David Williamson
Fundraiser
Three time HBSA Disabled Sportsperson of the Year David Williamson conquered the greatest challenge of his life in the summer of 2019 by completing an astonishing 30 marathons in 30 consecutive days.
A double amputee from the age of a few months, David took on this remarkable trial of both his physical and mental strength to fundraise for the charity LimbPower and two young children, both with severe disabilities.
For this event David received Pride of Britain and National Diversity Award nominations and was also a finalist at the Brave Briton awards, in their Charity Champion category.
After taking a well-deserved break – during which he took up a coaching role with Sitting Bucks Volleyball Club and also maintained close links with the families of several young disabled children, offering support and advice – David has re-entered the endurance event world by taking part in a 2000km team event and at the end of September will be attempting his second 24-hour wheelchair push.
“Be as alive as you can be, right up until the very last minute. After that it’s up to you.”
