Ellie Simpson
Founder of CP Teens UK & GB Frame Running Athlete
Community Action
In 2013, Ellie Simpson set up the charity CP Teens UK to provide ‘help, hope, inspiration & friendship’ to children & young people with Cerebral Palsy and physical disabilities. Growing up with Cerebral Palsy herself, Ellie knew the difficulties of trying to keep up with able-bodied peers and trying to ‘fit in’. CP Teens UK provides a network and a ‘safe space’ for youngsters with physical disabilities to meet, have friendships and social opportunities that often are missed out on due to having a disability. CP Teens UK is all about empowering young disabled people, making them feel like they can achieve and ensuring that they don’t feel alone or different.
Alongside CP Teens UK Ellie is a Frame Runner for Great Britain. Frame Running is a newly accepted para athletics event where athletes with moderate/severe neurological physical disability use a three-wheeled frame, resembling a tricycle without pedals, to run/sprint. She has been competing since 2015 and has won four Gold medals at two World Games, she has broken the 200m world record, and made history in 2019 when she represented GB in the first ever inclusion of Frame Running in the WPA World Championships in Dubai, where she won the Silver medal. Ellie is also passionate about the grassroots and recreational side of the sport.
Away from CP Teens UK and Frame Running, Ellie enjoys trying new foods and eating out! She also enjoys travelling and especially visiting new cities, with New York being her favourite so far!
